For my design thesis during the Graphic Design program at George Brown College, I chose to explore the topic of parenting individuals with neurodevelopmental challenges. It was inspired by my own upbringing growing up with a sibling that has autism, and how my parents cared for him.
My goal for the project was to design a resource for caregivers to network and share their own challenges, and to ultimately learn from each other and improve their own well-being and parenting approaches.
For my advertising course, I was given the challenge to produce an ad for Fitbit.
My approach to this involved establishing a target audience. From there, I would determine the insight and produce my idea and execution around that.
For my typography course, I was given the challenge to produce my own typeface inspired by artist and designers of my choice.
This was a really fun project for me, as I got to integrate my illustration style and approach to typography.
For my corporate course, I was given the challenge to take an existing brand and produce a new visual identity.
My approach to this involved determining the brand strategy, key words, and tone of voice for the target audience. It was a great challenge to use different colour palettes and typefaces that express a new identity to the brand.
Another project that I had for my corporate course was to take another existing brand and design an annual report.
When I got access to Barilla's annual report, it was important to me to create a hierarchy and determine which information I was going to emphasize. It was also a fun challenge to produce a visual aesthetic that is true to the brand.
Another project I had for my corporate course presented an opportunity for me to produce my own brand for a restaurant.
I got to take inspiration from existing artists/designers and apply it to the brand system. It was very educational to also design for many aspects of the brand such as signage, packagine, clothing and other marketing venues.
